Anex Bulletin Editorial Reference Panel

The Editorial Reference Panel provides feedback and assistance to Anex to ensure the Anex Bulletin is a high quality publication of relevance to the readership. The panel consists of people with expertise spanning drug and alcohol, health promotion, NSPs, academic publications, drug consumers and nursing.

Consumer Advisory Committee

Consumers are directly impacted by the quality and effectiveness of NSPs and other harm reduction services and are thus key stakeholders in the continued development of these services. The Consumer Advisory Committee brings together people with a specific personal knowledge and experience of drug use and utilisation of NSP and harm reduction programs to provide advice to Anex in the development of its policy directions

National Needle and Syringe Program Policy and Practice Forum

This forum brings together policy makers and practitioners from across the country. The forum provides advice on the development and implementation of Anex’s policy directions in relation to Needle and Syringe Programs (NSPs), harm reduction and related issues in Australia, with a particular focus on:

  • Ensuring the on-going sustainability and viability of NSP and harm reduction services in Australia; and,
  • The development of best practice principles that would inform the continuous improvement of NSP and harm reduction services in Australia.

Needle and Syringe Program Access Committee

The Victorian Ministerial Advisory Committee on Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmissible Infections (MACBSTI) agreed to the formation of this committee to explore and advise on a way forward to address access issues to NSPs. One of the key reasons for the re-use and sharing of injecting equipment is the barriers that exist to access programs. This includes hours of access and also location of services. Anex resources and Chairs this committee, which includes researchers, policy makers and experts in NSP service delivery.

Scientific Advisory Committee

Members of the Scientific Advisory Committee have particular research-related expertise and experience, particularly in the areas of blood-borne viruses and drugs. The committee is established to advise Anex on the identification and pursuit of research priorities for the NSP and harm reduction sector. Members of the committee also provide secondary consultations to Anex on interpretations of research data, as appropriate.
