International keynote speakers:

Professor Ernest Drucker, will provide a global and historical perspective on the evolution of drug use in modern society. An expert in the field of drug use and its impact for 40 years, Professor Drucker is the Editor in Chief of the international journal, Addiction Research and Theory. He is also the Professor of Epidemiology and Social Medicine and the Professor of Psychiatry at the Montefiore Medical Centre/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.

Mr Jeremy Douglas, Regional Project Coordinator at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), will present on the patterns and trends of amphetamine use in East Asia and the Pacific. Mr Jeremy Douglas coordinates the UNODC project “Improving ATS Data and Information Systems” which draws on data from drug control agencies in 13 countries in the region.

Federal Agent Bruce Hill (Australian Federal Police, Border and International) explores the developments in the import and offshore amphetamine supply markets and related Australian Federal Police control activities.

Detective Inspector Rod Henness (NSW Police, State Crime Command) discusses the recent trends in domestic manufacture and distribution of amphetamines and implications.

Dr. Rebecca McKetin (National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre) explores the prevalence of amphetamine use and harms in Australia.

Dr. Mark Montebello (Langton Centre) describes the experience of clients and staff at a newly established stimulant clinic.

Dr. Edward Ogden (Victoria Police) reports on managing amphetamine users in custody.

Crysanthe Psychogios and Kate Williams (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare) who will describe the patterns of use and characteristics of users in treatment.

Dr. Ingrid van Beek (Kirketon Road Centre and the Sydney Medically Supervised Injecting Centre) explores community level responses in managing the behavioural and psychological effects of amphetamine use.
