Drug Law Reform: International Trends

Anex is pleased to present a public forum “Drug Law Reform: International trends” with the Director of the US Drug Policy Alliance – Dr. Ethan Nadelmann.

Ethan Nadelmann received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University and a Masters degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics before becoming an Assistant Professor of Politics and Public Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.

His critique of U.S. drug control policies and recommendations regarding harm reduction strategies and other alternatives to punitive drug prohibition have attracted international attention and played an important role in stimulating the growing debate over drug policy worldwide.

Dr. Nadelmann began working on drug law reform in 1994 with the philanthropic support of George Soros.  He is now the Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance, the leading drug policy reform organization in the U.S.

His extensive writings on drug policy reform have appeared in scholarly journals such as Science, National Review and Foreign Affairs as well as more mainstream publications such as Rolling Stone.

Dr. Nadelmann is visiting Australia as a guest of the Australian Drug Law Reform Foundation. The aim of this tour is to highlight international trends in drug policy and promote discussion on the need for drug law reform in Australia and around the world.
